Riverdale Grange is an independent hospital providing specialised care and treatment for people who have an eating disorder. We understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality and upholding the privacy of everybody we work with.
Riverdale Grange is committed to meeting our data protection obligations and being transparent with you about how we collect and use your personal data.
The hospital is registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (Z2963726).

What information do we collect and how do we use it?
When you contact us using any of the methods on the ‘Contact Us’ page, we collect your contact information (name, telephone number, email address) and the details of your enquiry. We use this information under our legitimate interests as a hospital to respond to your initial enquiry and assist you in the best way that we can.
Depending on the nature of your enquiry and your relationship with the hospital, we may need to collect further information from you, including details about your health to make sure that you are helped by the most appropriate member of our team.
Sharing your personal information
The hospital has strict access and authorisation protocols in place to ensure that your information is only made available to those who have a genuine need to know.
All members of the hospital’s team are aware that they have a duty of confidentiality to everybody with whom the hospital comes into contact with. If we believe that it is necessary to share your information with anybody outside of Riverdale Grange, such as other health professionals, then we will inform you first.
How long we keep your information
The length of time we keep your information depends on several factors:
● if you submit an enquiry to us and are later admitted to the hospital, your initial enquiry may then form part of your medical record;
● if your enquiry is related to a concern or a complaint with the hospital, we will retain all details of correspondence with you as part of our investigation;
● in specific circumstances, we may need to retain details of correspondence with you in order to establish or defend a legal claim;
In all circumstances, the hospital undertakes to retain information for only as long as is required for the purpose(s) it was used. After this time, paper documents containing personal information are securely shredded and electronic copies erased.
Your rights
You have the following rights under data protection legislation:
1. The right to be informed – we have to tell you how and why we use your personal information; this is what this privacy notice is for.
2. The right of access – you can request that we provide you with copies of the personal information that we hold about you.
3. The right to rectification – if you think that any of the personal information we hold about you is incorrect or incomplete, you can ask us to correct it.
4. The right to erasure – in some situations, you can ask us to delete the personal information we have about you.
5. The right to restriction – in some situations, you can ask us to pause the use of your personal information.
6. The right to data portability – you can ask us to send your personal information directly to another data controller.

What to do if you have a complaint
If you believe that we have not upheld your rights or have used your personal information unlawfully, please get in touch with us as soon as possible so that we can rectify the situation.
